Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Hi, my name is Peyton, and I am from Los Angeles. Today was a pretty amazing first full day. The day started super rainy, and it was actually pouring sideways. We woke up nice and early to Roman screaming for unknown reasons and roosters. We had a special breakfast of cereal and milk, very delicious. We had to wait out the rain to go to listen to Mike’s speech. He talked about the obvious basics of safety and everything else. After the speech we got ready to go under way. We sailed up to Norman Island, reviewing some sailing knowledge and hanging out. Once we got onto a mooring ball, we did our swim test, which consisted of 4 laps around the boat and a 10-minute float. We had no music, so we made our own by singing the Star Spangled Banner. Then we got to dinghy over to another boat, yet our dinghy, which we named Bongo, was not the fastest. It was very sad, and I feel we will have to part ways with our defective dinghy soon. We got to snorkel around some caves at Norman Island, which was super fun. We got to see a lot of cool fish, including some peacock fish and tarpon. We got a free ride back to our boat, sadly not on Bongo, and hung out until it was time to sail over to GHP.
The sail to GHP (Great Harbor, Peter Island)was super chill. We got to practice more sailing and just hanging out. We anchored in GHP, hung out, and showered while Will and Roman made some delicious sloppy joes. The dinner was actually amazing, we had sloppy joes, sweet corn, homemade mashed potatoes, which was super delicacy, and salad. After clean up, we started to play some UMO, our new name for Uno, and chilled until our Sail Chat with Claire. Our sail chat consisted of going over some basics, like terminology, points of sail, parts of the boat, and more things that will be super common during the rest of the trip. Now we are just chilling, getting to know one-another and can’t wait for the adventure to come!!!!!!!!!!!!!
