Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Today was officially the day that marked the halfway point of this journey.
We first started the day by giving all of our dirty laundry that needed to be washed to the counselors. After handling our laundry, we all got ready and headed up to the cockpit for breakfast. For breakfast today, we had bagels and yogurt as well as some of Luke’s Nutella, which he kindly volunteered. After breakfast, we then hit the sails and went over to a place called “The Dogs.” On our way over there, we all took turns steering the boat as well as handling the reef lines and mainsheets. There we moored at a mooring ball and ate lunch. For lunch, we had white bean soup as well as salted crackers to put into the soup. Shortly after lunch, we met up with kids our age on the boat Soul Rebel, who are doing a more advanced dive program. Soon after meeting up, we got into the water by swinging off of a rope attached to the boom. After doing this for a couple of hours, it was time to say goodbye, but we were able to swap boats for the ride back to Mountain Point. We all enjoyed going on the Catamaran, while the other group seemed excited to ride our Monohull. It was very fun to get splashed by waves on the trampoline attached to the Catamaran. However, the fun was very short lasting as we had to eventually go back to the Monohull. After boarding our Monohull at Mountain Point, we once again showered in the ocean. Then it was time for dinner, in which we prepared a Thanksgiving feast that included foods such as mashed potatoes, gravy, and stuffing. We are now getting ready to do a dive chat and then go to bed. I personally had a lot of fun today as I was able to interact with other kids my age, and I think the rest of the crew can say the same.
