Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today’s morning began with “Part of your world” from the Little Mermaid as we arose to a breakfast of oatmeal. After we finished breakfast, we motored over to Salt Island to visit the Rhone Wreck located on the windward side. We prepped our gear and hopped in to dive the wreck of the infamous 310ft passenger liner deemed “unsinkable.” The wreck itself was host to a plethora of marine life, making itself home to numerous reef creatures. On the dive, we witnessed two similarly related angelfish – Pomacanthus Paru (French angelfish) and a Pomacanthus Arcuatus (Gray angelfish) – fighting over territory as the Gray was successful in driving the French away from its rocky outcrop. Other exciting encounters witnessed included a pair of porcupine pufferfish meandering about the wreck. After the dive concluded, we headed to the leeward side of the island to hike it. The amazing view at the top of the trail was truly a sight to behold. As we shuttled back to our Catamaran – Yo Dawg – we ate lunch (bean soup) and motored back to Great Harbor Peter (GHP). Once back to our original starting point of the day, we took some time to work on our research projects as well as take some leisure time to have some fun with water sports. After this, we snorkeled the site of our night dive. Dinner for tonight was Chicken Caesar Salad and Risotto. Today was another thrilling and amazing day at ActionQuest; we can’t wait for the next….
