Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island

At 7 am this morning, we woke up to “The Circle of Life” from the Lion King and ate breakfast burritos. After breakfast, we began learning a few ways we could complete our research projects. Using quadrats and tape measures, we practiced marine researching by trying to figure out roughly how many blennies are in Great Harbor Peter. We did this twice, once snorkeling and once diving, to see which was easier and more accurate. We did this in our three project groups so that we could get used to working together and think about what we wanted to focus our research on. Then we had lunch and sailed to the Willy T wreck. The wreck sunk fairly recently, so not much coral or sea life is living there yet, but the ship is also in great shape. There were fake skeletons placed around in various poses, and we saw a giant barracuda. After having grilled cheese for lunch, we sailed back to Great Harbor Peter. Tonight we’re having a thanksgiving dinner and are going to watch a movie. I’m sure tomorrow will be another great day.
