Location: Sommer's Beach, Tortola
Today we woke in Sommers Bay to some house music like every morning for a rotation day and a Beach BBQ! Tom and Jerry were the chefs today, and they made us some delicious scrambled eggs for breakfast and some cereal. Then it was time to start the day, and our first rotation was ship systems, where we all learned some secrets about the ship and some navigational skills! It was cool for us to see the motor and engine more because ours broke the other day, which was hilarious but a huge struggle. Both Tom, Jerry, and August were very good at the navigational skills and were saying they could guide us anywhere now, which I have faith!! Soon after, it was time to transition to our next rotation, which was a hike and boom swing!!!! Annika led us on the hike, which she hyped us all up for since it’s her favorite, and it turned out to be so pretty. Madi, Lucy, Eva, Clemmie, and I all got a girls’ picture on the top because the view was priceless! Then some people got tired and hiked down but a few others and I kept hiking to the top with Sienna a staff member form anther boat. August, Tom, and Thom sprinted to the top, and Madi Sienna and I lost track of them until we heard shouting and saw them charging down the mountain. After the hike, we met up with the rest of Oryx and some Hope kids and had a rewarding swim in the crystal clear blue water. We headed back home to Oryx to reapply sunscreen and get ready for water sports!! One of the most elite rotations, James (our boat uncle) took Clemmie, Lucy, Tom, and me out while others stayed back for a nap and some tanning. We all knee boarded and got flung off, especially Tom, who was skidding across the water even after he fell off the knee board. Soon after, we headed back to the boat to cook up some lunch. We were supposed to have white lentil soup but Ruby couldn’t find it so we had deli sandwiches and i think everyone was glad about that, except maybe Anzie, because she had the soup on the dive boat since she had rotations there all day. After lunch, we all got very hyped because it was dive time!! WOOOP!!! We all hopped into the dinghy and were on the way! Once we got there, we all frantically started getting our dive gear ready, except unfortunately Emma, Lexi, and Zoe, because they leave tomorrow and can’t dive then go on an airplane :(. Once we splashed, it was a skill day under the water with a CESA accent, and Clemmie, Eva, and Thom saw a stingray. They always take us to see the best wildlife when we dive! After the dive, it was time to get ready for the Beach BBQ!!!! Eva, Lucy, Madi, and I all had a makeup party and got ready, then helped everyone else dock up to Why Knot, which is the boat we were rafting with for the night. We got some group pictures, put on our Moo-Moos, then wrote cards to Emma, Lexi, and Zoe because they are leaving, but then it was time to go. When we got to the beach and team Oryx secured our food, we ate together. After we finished our hamburgers and hot dogs, we broke off into small groups and mingled with other boats. The sunset was beautiful and a few. Dolphins surfaced to make the night. Almost everyone was pushed into the water where we had chicken fights, tackled each othe,r and watched the sunset hide into the ocean. The BBQ went by so fast, and it was time for us to go home. We had an ocean shower in the dark, which was scary, but we were together, so it made it fun. And finally, we finished the night by hanging out with Why Knot on the hard tops, and everyone got to know each other. And that wraps up another amazing day for Oryx🤿🕺💕!
