Location: Great Harbor, Jost van Dyke
Hi, I’m Bailey, and I’m the skipper today. This morning, Aleda, Teddy, and I all woke up in the blue lagoon after having a greatttt night of sleep. After that, Paige, Amelia, and I all put on our zinks to get ready for the race! The race was between all sailside boats. I was skipper today, so I got to go to a meeting with Riley and all the other skippers and captains to talk about the plan for the race. After I told my entire boat the plan, we all got ready to race! And Stella and Emily put on zink as well.
The countdown started, and we took off! I was steering first at the helm. Max, Aaron, and Grayson got a bunch of eggs together and spare food we had to throw at other boats for a friendly food fight! We started out last and ended second to last. During the ride, we came super close to Nacho Dinghy, and they started the food fight with us. They got us really good with old apples and eggs….we were scrubbing for a while….but we definitely had the best dance moves. We did the wobble and sang along to many songs on the roof during the race. Once the race came to an end, Oryx won, and then we went to land. We went to Pussers for lunch, which was so super good. I got a really good virgin pina colada and shared a Caesar salad and a burger. I also bought my older sister a gift and went to the grocery store and got some good food, including crunchy grapes!
Once we got back on the boat, we had another race, except this one was a lot longer. We got split up into groups, and I was in a group with Stella and Emily, and Stella is a very good sailor, so is Emily. During the race, we lost a dishy pit bucket and had to go back and get it and drop out of the race because we used motor and fell super behind:( Kinda sad because we were towards the front of the race. We got to the mooring bal,l and Bella helped put it down. We showered, and Jake came over for dinner, and we had chilli and rice, which was good. Then Aleda, Paige, Teddy, and I all performed our dance that we made for everyone. To finish off the night, Jake told us a GREAT story about how his friend pranked him by putting a goat on his boat…you can imagine how that ended. Anyway, now I have sail chat and then bed! Bye-bye, thanks for reading.
Hi everyone! I’m Stella, and I was the skipper today. We began moving bright and early at around 5, traveling to Salt Island from Great Harbor on Peter Island. Max, Aaron, Emily, Grayson, and I got to watch the sunrise while we were moving. Marge and Riley let me go on the helm when we anchored in Salt Island, which was an awesome experience. Riley then woke the rest of our shipmates up with the military revelry, which was kind of funny to watch. Today was what the staff called a ‘fauxtation day’, which is basically a fake rotation day. After breakfast, we jumped into our sail exam and knot test. The sail exam was 50 questions, and we had to tie 7 knots… everyone passed!!!
After that, we all headed over to Hope to dive on the wreck of the Rhone. Unfortunately, while everyone was busy exploring the wreck, my group (Emily, Teddy, Paige, and I) had a little bit of difficulty with one of our dive gears. We didn’t get a chance to swim around and look at the scenery, so we were all a little bummed. Luckily, we got an opportunity to return to the dive site a few hours later with another boat, so we ended up being able to dive. Bailey, Amelia, and Aleda said they saw a shark, and Max, Aaron, Grayson, and Bella reported they saw a huge fish. We got to swim at our anchored boat in the beautiful, clear water. After that, we were anchors-up and out of there. It’s not a protected bay, so we were unable to remain there overnight. Our boat returned to Peter Island, where we were this morning. Now, we are on a huge raft with all the other boats in our fleet. A raft is where all the boats tie together in a huge line. It’s really fun because we can interact with our friends from other crews. We just consumed a delicious dinner of Mexican food, cooked by Max and Grayson. Now, everyone is cleaning the boat as normal. By now, we’ve fallen into a routine and everyone knows their job and how to do it well. Tonight, we have a brief dive chat and a movie night!!! Tune in tomorrow for another very exciting blog!
