Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
This morning started around 5:45 when Ri started preparing French toast for breakfast. We quickly ate and cleaned up before kitting up for our first search and recovery dive. On this dive, we completed the U pattern, the expanding circle, tying knots, and lift bag practice in our buddy pairs. Every group went down a few minutes after each other, so none of us had to wait that long underwater. Ace and Wiley had to dive with the shame chicken today because they were poking jellyfish on our dive yesterday. When we came up, we dried off and hung out before sailing over to Leverick Bay. After our short sail, we got our phones and got to call our friends and family. We then ventured on to land, where we stocked up on snacks for the boat and had lunch at Pussers. We got back to the boat around 2:00 and began our EFR training. We practiced doing CPR on dummies. It was very hot and sunny outside, so we were able to take a break in the middle of our lesson and jump in the water. Sadly, the shame chicken will not be mentioned in this blog anymore because Lindsay, a counselor from Good Times, took it back to his boat. After we all showered, got ready, and took many photos, we dinghied over to the dock for the BBQ. It was very fun, and we got to see our friends from other boats and eat good food. Tatum even won the limbo contest and got a free drink! We got back to the boat, and we were all very tired and ready for bed.
