Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Today officially marked our first week here on Forever for Now! All of us were very excited to reach out to our friends and family, but first, Elise cooked up some yummy French toast for all of us to eat right before our dive. The Neptune students got to do their first underwater naturalist dive, while all of the Dolphin students (including myself) got to go for our first research dive! We all went to Mountain Point again and spotted a bunch of tarpon under the boat and a turtle, all while navigating ourselves throughout the dive site. Gabrielle and Liam tried on an old-fashioned diving mask during our safety stop, while Elise, Grace, Madison, and I all held on to each other since the current was really strong. After our dive, we headed over to Leverick Bay, where we all got to get our phones back! We all enjoyed talking to our parents and sending photos to some friends since we all miss them very much and cannot wait to talk to all of them eight days from now. We then sailed over to Vixen Point where Rudy, Alexandre, and Liam did their deep dive knowledge review and got to hang on the beach with some students on another boat while the Dolphin students got to dissect a dogfish shark! Robbie cut through the shark very smoothly, leading the dissection, and while passing all the different organs around, Grace broke an organ, which was very funny (hint: the dogfish was a male). All of the dolphin students then got to take the dinghy over to the mangroves, where we snorkeled. Lucy spotted a lobster, and the rest of us observed a moray eel and some upside-down jellyfish. After the boat regrouped, everyone got ready for where we’re all headed right now (our first barbecue)! We are all very excited to eat some food from the land and cannot wait for this upcoming week.
