Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Hey everyone! It’s Wes again. This morning started in GHP (Great Harbor Peter) with us being woken up by Disney music and our chefs, Eve and Jaden, setting out some cereal and oatmeal for us. Sadly, we ran out of milk, so most of us settled for some fruit. After breakfast, we prepped our gear to dive the Beta wreck. After motoring to Cooper Island, where the wreck was, we did a really cool swim through, and our max depth got to around 83 ft! Once we finished the dive, we sailed back to GHP after pumping our tanks. Here, Catalina, Nathan, and Jaden did their make-up dives. After that, we had mac and cheese for lunch, and as we did honey shots for dessert, we were taken aback by a scream coming from the water. We were ambushed with a second rescue scenario. Immediately, Nate and I skin dove to deal with the panicked victims. Jaden called EMS, Tate got the first aid, Cat tied a rope to a fender and threw it out to the first victim, Lordy, Huddy, and Tyler dove down to recall the two other divers, while Parker spotted for bubbles, and Alanna helped on the surface with full dive gear. Finally, Lexi got the O2 ready for CPR. We did so well that Ri told us that’d be our final scenario. After a stressful 10 minutes, we got cleanup done. Then we all had some time to relax before Siena took us all to do water sports on Rango. Nathan did slalom like a pro, and Cat did some crazy carves on the wakeboard while Lexi, Tate, and I used the kneeboard.
Thankfully, Rango didn’t break down, and the rest of us got to go as well. During our watersports time, two of us did make-up exams for our EFR certification and passed! After we showered and our chefs got dinner ready (it was Mexican night, and the beef was great), we all cleaned up before doing our final rescue exam. Guess what?!?!!??! WE ALL PASSED!!!! First try. As a reward, we all made brownies while talking and sharing many laughs. So, everyone, we’re all now officially Rescue Divers. That was it for today, and after a fun Fourth of July with temporary tattoos, themed music, and lots of celebration, we all went to bed.
