Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island

Since we finished rescue yesterday, everything else has been a bit more relaxed. As we all got out of bed this morning, Tate and Tyler prepared a tasty breakfast of pancakes as we motored over to the wreck of the Fearless. Our bellies are now full, we descended the 80 or so feet down to the wreck. We were unable to penetrate the wreck since it lies rather precariously on its side. Still, it was still a great deal of fun to swim around the Fearless and the surrounding reef. Apparently, while the Fearless was sinking a lone toilet had dislodged itself and had fearlessly imbedded itself in a nearby sand patch. There it sat, a solitary symbol of civilization amidst the chaotic underwater wilderness. After a short sail over to Road Town, we all departed in the dingy to shore.

Unfortunately, the first group to leave (which included Eve, Wesley, Cat, Alana, and I) were marooned at the Moorings base and not Road Town proper. It wasn’t bad at all, though; the food at the Moorings base might be the most reasonably priced food out of all the restaurants frequented by ActionQuest students. It also gave us the opportunity to visit the Moorings supermarket, which is also very affordable to students on the last few days of their voyage. After a quick nap, we magically arrived at the caves for a quick snorkel. Lorden and Tyler began free-diving around the boat while the rest of us made our way over to the caves. It was an interesting experience, after so much time SCUBA diving, to not be able to immediately descend upon the unexpected sea life thirty feet below us. The caves themselves were very cool, if not extremely dark. It reminded me a bit of that movie, The Descent. It was then a rough sail over to Great Harbor Peter, a site we are all very familiar with by now. The staff then rushed off to a meeting, and so goes the saying “while the cats are away the mice will play”. By the time they returned, Tyler and Tate were almost done preparing a tasty dinner of cheese and broccoli pasta. After dinner, we all cleaned, freshwater showered, and prepared for our last full day of ActionQuest.
