Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island
Hear ye hear ye all parents of the crew of Iles et ailes. Today was a relatively chill day and progressed as follows: this morning(06-29-2024), we had a simple breakfast of scrambled eggs, blueberry muffins, and fruit (all of which were delicious), shortly followed by dives for both open and advanced open water divers along “the sand highway” of musk melon bay. The open water divers had our/their first ever deep dive and, through that, officially became “Advanced Open Water Divers,” but let me back off and touch on some of the highlights of the advanced dive as we started down the sand highway and gradually made our way down from 20 feet to 30 to 40 and so on and so forth until we reached our final depth of about 75 feet. When the advanced crew finally got down to 70 feet, we noticed how grey all the reds and oranges in our gear looked, but as we were admiring that, our dive instructor garrison pulled out two eggs and simply cracked them on his tank and because the pressure was quite a lot we were able to actually play with the eggs without them deforming or breaking in any way, but then suddenly Noah just sucked one of the eggs into his mouth and ate it (he reported later that it was not good) and sadly the other egg broke. After the advanced crew had their fun with the eggs, we started back up towards the surface and, along the way, ran into some of the basic open water divers doing their open water training dives. After a short interaction with the open water diver, we finally completed our safety stop and hopped out of the water(which is quite hard to do with a scuba tank on your back). Finally done with the dive all of Iles et Ailes (Frenchy) discovered that we had to go and do dingy sailing, which, from what I could tell, went well for everyone (me personally, I was reading a book, “Blade Breaker” if anyone was interested), some of the highlights that I was told about from the dingy sailing was that Aiden was hopping around between boats and capsizing them. After about 2 hours of dingy sailing, the crew was ready for lunch. Lunch was amazing, as always. It was “Tuscan white bean soup,” which was surprisingly good and flavorful. After the crew had a relaxing lunch, we had to spring back into action for a hike that was really hot due to having the sun beat down on us. The hike overall was amazing and got us to some incredible views.
My highlight from the hike would have to be all of the guys throwing rocks off of a cliff that we found (we were safe) and hearing the sound that they made when they hit the water far below. Our final stop before we could get back to our beloved Frenchy was for the crew to have the option of wakeboarding, waterskiing, or kneeboarding. Personally, I tried kneeboarding and thought it to be harder than wakeboarding, but I digress. After wakeboarding was done, it was time for us to return to our beloved Frenchy. However, instead of beginning on dinner, we started a short 5-10 minute motor over to a beach on which the entire AQ fleet was going to have a BBQ with burgers (both veggie and meat), hotdogs, and overall a great time. After eating, a football game broke out among the fleet and was surprisingly fun (coming from a marching band kid, this is rare). Finally, after the BBQ, it was time for the faithful crew of Iles et Ailes to return to our boat for the final time today, play card games onboard, and then finally head off to sleep. And finally with nothing else for me to write about i shall join the other crew members in a rousing game of “Taco Cat Goat Cheese pizza”.
