Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
We slept in today! We all lazily got up around 7:30. Avi and Player got started on French toast while we all lounged around listening to music. Once breakfast was ready, we sat down and had the best breakfast we have had so far, in my opinion. I love French toast so much, and I got 4:). We had Nutella, PB, and syrup. They were so good OML. I was so happy eating my fourth one, Emily got me to try a kiwi, and it actually ended up being really good. Right after breakfast, we hopped into dishie pit while sailing our dive site and kitting up for our search and recovery dive. The dive was actually quite easy. We used string to swim across a small area and find two weights and a quarter. It only took about 30 minutes for everyone to finish. This dive ended up taking us till lunch because of how late we got up and sailing. Avi and Player made Mac N Cheese for lunch, which was solid, but I had some cereal as well because I was a little hungry. As we were cleaning up lunch, I was napping, and I heard splashing and yelling. WE HAD OUR RESCUE FIRST SCENARIO!!! There was a panicked diver who we had to save, and then we realized there were 3 MORE.
One more panicked diver and two unconscious divers. I suited up with Avi, Daniel, and Oliver while Owen snorkeled around for us. Ethan and Amelia spotted us to find the unconscious divers so we would dive into the right spots for us. Grace, Daria, Emily, and Player started chest compressions on the divers as we bring them in and calmed down the panicked divers. When Avi and I found our diver, we brought him to the surface and started rescue breaths. (We miiiiight have swam to the surface too fast, whoops 😬.) We did rescue breaths really well as we got him back to the boat and lifted him up on the transom.
Once he was on, we went and helped other people and retrieved dropped gear from other divers. It actually ended up being really fun. We hopped out of the water, and they had A LOT of comments for us. They said we did really great for our first one, but we just needed to be quicker. By the time we had said our hellos, it was time for the BBQ! We hopped in a dinghy and went to Sandy Spit which is so small this year. Omg, I swear it shrunk from last year. When we got back to the boat, we showered, and everyone is getting ready to play Monopoly again, which should be so fun. I am pretty drained from the night, so I am going to bed and signing off here. Day 12 in the books! It is going by way too quickly!
