Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
Today I was brought out of a deep sleep after Tommy began playing “Concerning Hobbit,” from Lord of the Rings. I was quite startled. After having a good laugh with Oliver about the first song of the day, we ventured outside of the salon to munch on some DELICIOUS bagels and yogurt. I love bagels (BUH-GELLS). Then, we were instructed to set up our gear for our third navigation dive of the trip. We descended and had to follow specific bearings to complete a hexagon, finding slates at each point. Each dive buddy team left their own signature doodles on the slates we reached. Admittedly, Emily and I spent more time drawing than navigating, and we may or may not have held up the line. Once completing our navigation dive, the buddy teams surfaced and went straight into practicing rescue exercise seven, towing a non-breathing, unresponsive diver to the boat. After spending an hour and a half doing this exercise, we all felt pretty confident in our abilities. I only waterboarded Emily once! We wrapped up exercise seven and began our lunch; ramen! (Did not sit well with me.) Oliver, on the other hand, decided to have Old Bay with a side of ramen. After lunch, we rafted with another boat called “Good Times” and were given the chance to participate in water sports or a fun dive. Those who decided to fun dive (not me) saw sharks (PLURAL🙄). I’m very jealous. But water skiing with Grace, Emily, and Amelia was SO fun. I swallowed lots of water, but it was all worth it. After returning to the boat, we were taught how to carry out rescue exercise eight, lifting an unconscious and non-breathing diver out of the water and onto the boat. I was not very confident in my ability to lift anyone out of the water. However, I put my big boy pants on and dragged an unconscious Emily out of the water and onto the transom. Once completing our exercise, we showered and had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. We had our daily squeeze on the hardtop and are now watching 21 Jump Street! I’m ending the vlog here to watch the lovely movie. Today was an awesome day—peace out.
