Although this day started up with a bit of chaos, it is a day that will be remembered in the happiest spot in my brain. Our crew was awoken to almost hurricane-like rains at 6 am that got Zac sprinting from his slumber, and once again, the mighty rain gods had nothing on Sierra because she slept through it like a baby. What saved my mood almost immediately was the GLORIOUS double rainbow we saw, and Sivanne made it even more special for everyone by saying it was the first double rainbow she’s ever seen! The boat was extremely grateful because today was laundry day, and we were finally ridden of our stink. We left Leverick all very excited for the sail ahead. During our sail, our beautiful Ava’s (things one and two) helmed us through a very exciting and crazy squall while Millie and I (Daisy) danced our hearts out to Tony Gs DJ beats to hype us up. To continue that hype, the entire friendship squad began our training for the Olympics, which, of course, started with hair. All the girls did some very sporty spice pigtail braids, and every guy (except Lochlan) did little mini ponytails (which we called palm trees) all over their heads. Imogen helped a lot with this and set up a mini hair salon and braided or palm treed many mates. Then came makeup. Everyone did some very sun-safe face paint (zinc) in many different shapes and designs on their faces, and after our amazing pep talk from our awesome counselors, we were war ready.
Expect we were not because our war focus was broken by a very interesting dive chat. The open water peeps headed over to Beso to learn about marine conservation, and the more advanced ladies and gents learned about fishies and how to safely perform their very exciting upcoming night dive. We all reunited and played a very intense water drinking game to get re-hyped for the Olympics, where Sophia CHUGGED and impressed everyone with her beautiful hydration skills. Right when we landed on the beach, the energy that radiated off of Friendship was unmatched. In our twinning do-ups, we marched ready to battle and voted on Lochlan to compete in the very first game, which was paddle board battling. He battled his heart out and made us so so proud but did not (yet) bring home a win. Next, our very own Gabriel was voted to compete in a Fender rodeo style. Again he did not exactly win, but we are just as proud. Next, five of our lovely group (Zac, Sierra, Ava N, Millie, and Daisy) were nominated to play slippery lava. This game was a BATTLE. We were getting tackled left in right, getting heads thrown down into the water, and dragged off of a dingy (a very slippery one as well). Next was followed by Spinny Fender, where our ENTIRE group participated. This was another intense one; again, we were getting thrown around left and right. Next was the highlight of the day, the staff rodeo. Or the entire boat sat in the sand and got to give back some of what we had been receiving. After narrowing it down to a couple of people, Lochlan entered the last round with the entire camp with a spirit to WIN. With his crew cheering LOUD and proud in the background, he brought us to victory, putting Friend Ship in second place!! Liam cooked up a dinner for champions, and with our favorite guest Jake we enjoyed a fabulous Mexican night. That’s a wrap on the most intense Olympics of ActionQuest history, and looking forward to talking to you guys soon!
