Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Today we woke up in Soper’s Hole after our first sleep. We had cereal for breakfast that Maren and Mimi prepared. After getting changed and ready for the day, we headed over to a meeting above Pusser’s with Mike. He introduced himself and the program, and we went over the essential agreements and rules. He reminded us to always have our hatches at 45 degrees and use Swim Ear after going in the water. Once we got back to the boat, we started our 6-hour sail from West End to Mt. Point. Mimi, Maggie, Emma, Leo, Schuyler, and Armaan made friendship bracelets while others chilled around the boat.
We stopped about halfway through our sail to do the swim test and eat lunch. We swam four laps around the boat and then trod water for 10 minutes. Everyone passed! We had deli sandwiches and did a mini cleanup around the boat. Once we left our temporary anchorage, Mimi, Schuyler, Frosty, Leo, and Declan hoisted the sail, and then Dec drove the boat for a while. We finished our passage and arrived at Mt. Point around 5. Everyone took ocean showers and then changed into comfy clothes. We thought we saw a stingray, but it was a rock. There were plenty of jellyfish we saw on the way! We had a dinner of chili and rice then everyone did their jobs. (Dishy pit, headmaster, deckie, gopher, salon keeper, and just cleaning up the boat overall.) Right now, everyone is watching the sunset and chilling while we wait for Aidan and Tyler to come so we can do the squeeze. We’re excited for tomorrow because it is our first rotation day!
