Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
Today we woke up later than usual, around 7:45 AM. We were all awoken to a French toast breakfast from Zoë and Maya. While our counselors were in a meeting with the rest of the AQ team, we ate our delicious breakfast with Nutella, maple syrup, and fruits. After breakfast was over, we proceeded to give a deep clean and organization of Amused to surprise our counselors. Around 9:00 AM, we’ve gotten done sweeping and wiping every corner of the vessel to receive our counselors Mackenzie, Davis, and Kackie with a wide smile of joy from seeing how well we did this morning. Kackie, our skipper, announced the upcoming sail race we will have on July 1st morning. As much excited and anticipated as we were for the upcoming race, we needed to undock from Sidneys and sail toward Sandy Spit. We divided the sail groups into three groups. Group A were Myles, Carlo, Asa, and Julian; Group B were Zoë, Lilly, Ana, and Sophie; Group C were Alta, Shane, Riley, and Maya. All groups were rotating from knotting ropes, learning from the Bowline to Figure Eight, and a few more important knots to know. Apart from learning knots, some groups were designated to sweat the halyard, trim the main sheet, unfurl the jib, and other significant jobs to set sail successfully. Underway to Sandy Spit, some of us took very pleasing naps or rather read novels. After a lengthy sail, we arrived at Sandy Spit. We ate some delicious, very wanted chicken salad wraps made by Maya and Zoë. All the shipmates had a big desire to go to the beach for a swim and chat with other vessel shipmates. Around 5:00 PM, we’ve already come back to our boat for our daily outdoor shower. We all wore comfy, dry clothing, ending another sunset with an extended debate about aliens during dinner. This night ended with a Christmas music playlist enlightening the mood. Here I end the resume of the day around 7:40 PM, excited for the race tomorrow.
