Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda

We started day five off with an early morning sail to The Baths at 6:30 am with a delicious breakfast of bagels and cream cheese with strawberry banana yogurt. When we arrived and jumped off the dingy boat, we were excited to see such an important historical spot here in the BVI’s. We went down the path that approached the tall rocks that had clear water in and around it. Chloe and Lily were quick to show everyone the 10-foot jump, and Will did a front flip! We made our way through the caves and water while bonding and having fun with our other crew mates. Then, we got picked up to come back to the boat to take our Hibliclens showers and get dressed to head into Spanish town. After our showers, we started our 20-minute sail to get into the town. We docked the boat, and Leo, Zavor, Sam, and I helped with the dock lines. Then, we were excited to eat lunch at a local restaurant, Bath and Turtle, where we enjoyed taco salads, burgers, and other meals. As we wrapped up lunch, everyone explored the rest of Spanish town, going to the markets to pick up snacks. Thea, Peyton, Lily, Chloe, and I got fresh-cut coconuts that eased the heat.

Then, we got back to the boat and had some time to chill and read before our quick sail to our anchorage. Following the sail, we all sat in the stern, ready to learn from Amelia’s lesson on how to tie different knots. The sun was beaming down as we practiced our knot-tying skills and enjoyed each other’s company. After the lesson, we all got ready to jump into the ocean for our daily shower. Sariah and Lina had fun with their GoPro, filming action shots jumping in, and swimming around. We rinsed off and got changed into pajamas before our scrumptious dinner of beef stroganoff, garlic bread, and sweet tea. While we were enjoying our dinner, we saw a turtle that Tait pointed out to us! After our sighting, we went up to the bow to start a squeeze led by me. We all went around saying what we were appreciative of during this very eventful day and ended with some very thoughtful questions for a squeeze. Overall, this day was one of the highlights of our trip so far due to the busy nature of it, and we all can’t wait to explore more of the BVI’s.
