Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today was one of my favorite days yet. It started around 6:50 am with a quick cereal breakfast. Shona and I then made our way over to the skipper’s meeting to prepare for our race today. We learned our starting and finish line as well as what the wind was up doing and the order the boats would line up in. We came back to our boat and prepared to race. Our race was a straight shot downwind to West End, Tortola. Everyone did a great job, and we got a good warmup for our second race of the day. But before that, we got two hours of shore time in West End. After we got a good lunch, we got back into the boat and went to the starting line of our next race. This one involved more tacking and strategy because it was upwind and longer. We used all of the tricks up our sleeves and raced as hard as we could and ended up getting second, which we were happy about. After the race, we set up a boom swing and swam for a while. It was so relaxing and refreshing after two long sails. It is dawning on us that we only have a few more days together, so we are trying to make the most of every minute now. It’s crazy that 18 days ago I didn’t know these people existed and now we are all so close. Anyways, we had a great dinner of burritos and Mexican food, and we are about to end the night with a sail chat. Tomorrow we go to Road Town, and I’m not sure what else but I’m looking forward to it.
