Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
We woke up around six to some of Bianca’s playlist. After a long wake-up, our wonderful staff left for Sidney’s to have a meeting. Simon, Rooks, and Rhiannon took control of the galley to prepare French toast while the rest of the crew did their best to stay awake. A quick sail to Manchineel Bay and quicker cleanup allowed us to brief for the final Search and Recovery dive. The dive consisted of Bianca hiding a very sentimental dive weight in a rock, which we had to go find. Andrew and Rooks went first, with Trey and Shay following close behind. Simon and I were doing our buddy checks and drinking a two-liter Coke I bought in Cane Garden Bay. Simon and I descended to fifteen feet and followed the anchor line until we found Bianca. As we waited for Ryan and Rhiannon’s group to finish and Scott and Niko’s group to find the very sentimental weight, Simon began to have mask issues, and I totally used my advanced rescue training skills to calm him down. After a fast search and recovery of the weight, Simon and I finished the dive and debriefed.
For lunch, Rooks, Andrew, and Alicia whipped up a beautiful chicken salad wrap. As we began our lunch cleanup, our neighbors (Soul Rebel) began to stare at us. As the confusion began to set in, Katie (staff from Aloha) appeared at our stern, yelling and screaming about her lost dive partner while deflating her bcd. Andrew expertly dove in with a mask, fins, and fender to save Katie, while Simon and Scott noticed Cici’s bubbles off our bow. Ryan, Rhiannon, and I bolted to prepare our gear in record time. As buddy checks began, Shay, Trey, and Rooks acted as skin divers to help point out the unresponsive diver. When our trio reached Cici and descended, we performed the very professional shaky shaky wavy wavy tappy tappy to establish responsiveness. Ryan ascended with Cici and performed rescue breaths while Rhiannon and I assisted with gear handling and removing gear. Once we got to the starboard transom Niko and Andrew helped lift her out of the water, with Simon and Mireille coming to administer emergency oxygen. As Matt ended our first rescue scenario, we debriefed and talked about what was good and what was less good about it.
After a couple of minutes of chilling and cleanup, the boat was given a choice to dive or go to sandy spit. Simon did neither and slept. Scott, Andrew, Rooks, Niko, Alicia, and I went to sandy spit, while Trey, Shay, Mirielle, Rhiannon, Ryan, and Griffin dove the playgrounds. At the spit, Rooks, Niko, Andrew, and I challenged the Good Times kids to a football 4 on 4 (we lost). Then we socialized with other boats after a humiliating defeat. After Matt picked us up in Shaka, we arrived at Simon, still sleeping. After waking up Simon and doing a full Hibicleanse shower Trey, Andrew, Rooks, and Alicia started on frank and beans for dinner. Following a double squeeze and quick cleanup, the staff kicked us out of the salon for a staff meeting. And that’s the end of another epic day on Event Horizon.
