Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda

This morning was our first sleeping off the docks. We had a breezy night with Audrey, Ash, Cameron, Jackson, and me sleeping on hammocks while Ellery, Maya, Lorelei, Kate, and Casey all slept in the main room, and Ava and Aiden slept in their cabins. We woke up to a song from SpongeBob the musical and ate a breakfast of bagels and blueberry yogurt. After the cleanup, we sailed to Cooper Island and set up our kits for our dive at Blue Chromis. This was a recreational dive, and we all dove in one big group, aside from Cameron, Ellery, and Audrey, who dove with another boat for their certification. On our dive, we saw many parrotfish, lots of cool coral formations, and a group of divers from another boat. We then did some self-rescue practice by practicing cramp releases and manual BCD inflation. After we put our kits away, we had a lunch of sandwiches with things like turkey, ham, lettuce, peanut butter, jam, and cheese from yesterday. We then sailed for a few hours between Cooper Island and Savannah Bay and worked to fill out the knowledge reviews in our books for rescue and navigation. While working, we heard about Ash’s ski competitions, Aiden’s applications for Syracuse, and the weather at everyone’s home. Afterwards, Ash, Cameron, and Jackson went waterskiing while today’s chefs, Lorelei and Aiden, started preparing today’s dinner, which is Alfredo pasta and hot dogs. Kate got some garlic butter on our dinghy, named Turkey, and Cameron made a joke saying “the turkey just got basted”. After dinner, we have a dive lecture where we will go over the work we did in our books, and then we plan to make brownies. We had a great day full of fun activities and new info about rescue diving!
