Day 12: Conrad
Hello, I am Conrad, and I am the skipper of the day. To start this day, we woke up at around 7 am and had cereal for breakfast. After, we suited up our PFDs to move a few hundred feet to raft with a catamaran by the name of Avizia. This means we connect our boats together using ropes. This is not the first time we have rafted with Avizia, so we were quite friendly. Then we started our last rotation day. A rotation day is when we have set times for different periods. Our first period, for about two hours, was the Chaos period. This included when Amelia and Arden set up the Boom swing, which takes a lot of work. We then set off the paddle boards and the Zests. Me, Arhan, and Cameron all went on the zest and capsized seven times and turtled the zest one time. Then Adnan, Noah, and Jacob went on the zests next.
After that two-hour period, we then went scuba diving on the ship known as Second Wind. My buddy group consisted of Caitlin and Noah. We did one skill and had fun for the rest of the dive. Jasper, Sienna, Jacob, and Giles saw a Lionfish on their dive. Unfortunately, Lily and Adnan were not eligible to descend the thirty feet because they were not to equalize their ears. After, we went back to the boat and continued the Chaos period, and some people chilled. Personally, I used that time for a much-needed nap. When I woke up, Noah and Alexa cooked up some Kraft Mac and Cheese.
Some people were not exactly fond of it, so some people switched to PBandJ. After lunch, we once again suited up to sail to a new spot called Sandy Spit. Along the way, we practiced Man overboard drills. Don’t worry. We didn’t throw anyone overboard. We used a buoy to act as a person in the water. Everyone on the boat is doing something during the drill. Giles and Caitlin took the helm, while Jacob pulled in the buoy during both of the drills. I furled the jib, which is also a part of the drill. Once we arrived at Sandy Spit, we took a saltwater shower. We then dressed up for a barbecue on a small island. There, staff set up a grill and tables. They served hotdogs, hamburgers, and some sides for a scrumptious dinner for day 12. Now we are sitting down for our final RDP(recreational dive planner) exam. This is our final exam before we receive our Junior open water diver certification. That is a wrap for day 12.
