Location: West End, Tortola
On our final day aboard the boat we all know and love, Iles et al. ies., aka Frenchie, we awoke to the notorious song “Bikini Bottom Day” and started preparing for our Race. The skipper of the day, Adnan (me), had to join a skipper meeting on Mike’s boat to get details and info about the race. The race started from Pelican Island, we had the 7th position, tacked at Road town, Tortola, and finished at Peter Island. Our race started off on a bad foot since there was a little bit of confusion furling the jib in, but luckily, our person on the helm, Zoe, put us on a good angle so the boat could start moving. We were smoothly gliding towards Tortola and had a clean tack around the green buoy until another by the name of Avizia had a sharp tack and cut us off. In revenge, Claire, Carson, Z, Sloane, and I threw bananas and yogurt at their boat. That soon backfired as soon as eggs were thrown from Avizia on to our boat.
An egg even hit inside the cockpit! We finished the race in 6th place which was probably what we were expecting. Another thing that we were expecting was the huge boat deep clean that took over 5 hours. Jack, Derrick, and Sloane cleaned the outer part of the boat, while Peter, Z, Carson, Zoe, and I cleaned the salon. After we were done cleaning, everyone got to meet up with old friends from other boats which was greatly appreciated since we could not raft during the trip. Before the big barbeque that included the whole action quest of session 2, our boat had a final game of squeeze and auctioned the parts of the AQ flag, which was later sent to charity. Now, for the moment, we have all been waiting for the big barbeque. Delicious burgers and hot dogs with a side of other tasty food were served to the fleet. After the big barbeque was finished, Mike ended the session with a big speech and a Doctor Seuss story, “All the Places You’ll Go,” which touched many hearts, including mine. Then, all the boats said their final goodbyes and went to bed. Good night, session 2.
