Location: Nelson’s Harbor, Antigua
As per usual the crew of “Frenchie” woke up to the opening theme of the Spongebob musical. We had a hearty breakfast of assorted cereals. Afterward, we headed off to a guided tour of Nelson’s Dockyard. We learned many things about the history of Antigua and the British presence. Afterward, we changed at the boat and had a lengthy amount of shore time in which we got our phones. Almost everyone had lunch at Bar-b’s, a yacht club diner. And then headed back to the boat by 3:00 for our final hike of the trip. We piled into dinghies and drove across the harbor to the beach, where we began our nearly two-and-a-half-hour hike. The hike started out on a not-so-favorable path of cactus and rock. Then, as we saw the first viewpoint, everyone began to realize that the struggle was well worth it. When we got to the top, we were able to get water at a place called “Shirley’s.” Then, we began the long walk down to the dinghy pickup spot. After getting back to the boat, the crew showered and then prepared dinner (summer Thanksgiving dinner). Finally, the group participated in a Sail-chat led by our skipper Matty P. See y’all tomorrow in St. Barths!
(P.S. To my parents, I called you. Please call me back next time)
