Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
Early start today! Some people were up at 5.30am! The rest took the boat ride as more time to rest. The sun coming up over the islands and it’s golden rays glistening on the water was beautiful. We cruised across the rolling waves for about 4 and a half hours before we reached Savanna Bay. The water was so blue and so clear! You could see the bottom 30ft down from the boat! We all especially love the bright turquoise water close to shore. Truly is nature’s beautiful secret. Once in the bay, we hopped into our swimsuits and slathered on sunscreen. The Neptunes went on a navigation dive whilst, the Dolphins did the same on another boat. The Dolphins worked with the compasses to use a degree (given to use by Lolo), from which we had to go in a straight line, and then to create a perfect square. After that, we got to explore the reefs, with lots of fun, beautiful coral and bright fishes. Every time we dive, there’s always something new that makes you want to stare in wonder and explore and learn more! After fueling up with yummy sandwiches, we went to shore and learned about the turtles and laying eggs. I learned a lot of things I never knew about turtles, like how leather backs can be up to 8 feet long. That’s a big turtle! For dinner, we had Sloppy Joes, which was delicious, but as you can imagine a little messy. Such a great first couple of days and can’t wait for the rest and what we’re going to learn about the ocean, the marine life, each other, and about ourselves!
