Today was a fun-filled day of sailing! The day started off strong, waking up to some pleasant music early in the morning. Everyone had a smile on their face as they arose from their slumber. We all put our clothes on as the sweet and scrumptious aroma of Frosted Mini-Wheats, Frosted Flakes, and Cheerios filled the air. Even though we didn’t get a ton of sleep the previous night, we were all excited for another amazing day at ActionQuest! After we finished up with our bowls of cereal, our great friends Sky, Tony, and Nat told us about how we were going to be doing a lot of sailing the entire day.

First off, we got into the sailing watch teams that we had been divided into a few days ago. Each one of our teams would do different things to help out on the boat. My watch team, with Nate, Eloise, and Lola, was tasked with putting up the main sail. Nate and i pulled up the sail, with some help from Sky. Eloise was the person who pulled in the slack. After we got up the main sail, another team was to put up the Jib sail, which is a smaller sail that can be put up on the left or right side. Eventually, I was asked to helm and drive the boat. I did very well for a while until Nat suddenly asked to tack. I was pretty confident at first, even though it was my first time ever taking a large boat. I successfully completed the tack but sold at the end and ruined everything. Then, I was kicked from the helm so someone else could have a try. That was a learning experience for me, though, because now I know to always keep the wheel fully starboard or port side.

We ended off the day with a swim in an ocean that was super amusing. We all had fun in the water, we played delightful games, and we all hit the showers together before we had a great dinner of chili and rice. Tony made all of us laugh with his jokes. In the end, it was a great day with tons and tons and tons and tons and tons and tons and tons of fun endeavors that really got us connected as a family.
