Location: Underway to Saba
Last night, we finally had a minimal amount of rain, which was nice. After a nice breakfast of oatmeal and a quick cleanup, our crew headed to Harbor House Out, the other Minerva boat. While Riley and Matty P (the other skipper) worked out customs for us, we all got the opportunity to participate in water sports. We all went out in groups; I got to go with Christina and two girls from the other boat, Ellery and Tati. Shawn stole one of their flags on the boat, and we raised it on ours when we returned. Mateo, Henry, Shawn, and Christina played water trivia, where you stand at the edge of the boat and answer a trivia question. If you answer incorrectly, you get pushed in. Christina, Lauryl, and I got to spend some time together. After, we pulled up our anchor and motored to our next destination. Shawn steered us all, and Giles talked to Riley about sailing. Giles sounds like he knows a lot about sailing. We arrived at Leverick Bay and got to go to shore for lunch. Luckily, we also got to fill up on snacks and provisions for our 16-hour passage tonight!!!
During showers, Hayes and Lawson threw a ball around that bounced on the water. It’s currently 4:30, and we are about to eat dinner before we get underway. The staff announced the watch teams for tonight; I’m in Group 1 with Henry and Giles. Hayes, Mateo, Nate, and Lauryl are in Group 2. Group 3 is Lawson, Christina, and Shawn. I think we are all very excited to finally get to sail at night and get the experience. We have harnesses that we have to clip onto something stable if we are on deck at night, and they seem very cool. I asked Riley if he thinks we are going to see bioluminescence during the trip, and he said most likely, so I’m very, very excited for the prospect of possibly seeing them. Seeya all tomorrow!
Note from Zoe, the editor: apologies for the delayed posts. We have had a very weak connection at Saba:(
