Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island
Today we got up early and after some waiting, had some pancakes. We then picked up our anchor and left Marina Cay. After quickly raising the mainsail we sailed through the small channel between Little Camanoe and Great Camanoe. The channel was really cool because there were reefs right next to us and cliffs just past them. Once we got into open water we began our sailing practical exams. In the exams each person has to captain the boat and sail through every point of sail, tack, jibe, and go through heaving to and a man overboard drill. Everybody who took the exam today passed. After three people took the test we anchored at Lee Bay on Great Camanoe to have lunch. For lunch we had chicken salad sandwiches, which was extremely messy and was tough for the deckies to clean up. We then picked up the anchor and went back out sailing to continue with the practical exams. We did another three practical exams before we ended our day of sailing at Muskmelon Bay on Guana Island. Next we all took showers off the boat and Tor showed some of us how to do perfect backflips, and Dan’s attempts provided much humor. We then had chilli and rice for dinner, which was good. Now the Carinas are going for a night dive, which will be very cool for them. We are also watching brownies cook in the oven, which will be tasty!
