Location: The Bight, Norman Island
Today we were able to relax and sleep in a little because we were going into Road Town! We woke up to Evan and Lyla making a nice breakfast of pancakes and fruit before we detached from the other boats. Before we left, we all took our exam on coral reefs so we could be certified coral reef conservation specialists! Then we had a relaxing sail over to Road Town. Meredith, Stella, and Aidan went ahead of us in the dinghy to catch our lines when we got to the dock. When we arrived, Hays and I tied lines and called out distances, Matt helped with the fenders, and Kate and Drew threw lines to help park the boat in a tight spot. Allie gave us directions and our phones, and we explored the town.
We walked around for a while, then sat down to have some lunch at a restaurant near the dock. Everyone else got their food, but Thomas, Claire, Hays, and I had to wait for another hour and a half. While we waited, Lyla, Drew, Evan, Meredith, and Stella went to get groceries and got a huge haul of snacks. While we were in the restaurant, we were able to call our parents and look at all of the photos we took over the trip! When we finally got our food, we took it to go and ate on the boat. On our sail to our next spot, we hit a rough patch of waves, and Hayes and I were able to jump with the waves and went super high! With the waves came a big gust of wind, and my swimsuit blew overboard! After we reached our spot for the night, we showered and were able to relax for a little while because the counselors were getting their new boat assignments for the next session. After they returned, we had a surprisingly good dinner of broccoli cheddar pasta and talked about what famous person we would spend a day with. Then we cleaned up and had our night activity, where we all wrote nice letters to each other to read when we got home. Finally, everyone prepared to prank one of the other boats, Beso, tomorrow. Now we all need to get sleep to prepare for our big race tomorrow and(sadly) our last day!
