Song of the day: Sandstorm

Aloha from the very stinky Peter Island. Your skipper today is Ada. This morning, our parents took the hit and woke up BEFORE the crack of dawn at the ripe hour of 4 AM to sail from Peter Island to Salt Island. Nine of us kiddos were awoken alongside them because it is crucial that we wear our PFDs (queue eye roll). Most of us slept on the stern with four children on the benches, and five of us lined up in hammocks sleeping above those on the benches. Unfortunately, those who slept in hammocks last night (Me, Kellan, Bella, Sam, and George) were very RUDLEY told to bring them down in the morning because it was unsafe while moving. This is where Kellan informed us that both Sam and I had slept talked. Much later in the morning, we were once again woken up to the abrupt sound of the song Sandstorm. Which played on repeat the whole day because it was Rhone day! Our parents brought out a couple of cans of Monster energy drinks to pour them into a bowl of Cheerios for us to eat (disgusting by the way). We started our day of events by going to the shore of Salt Island. We explored abandoned buildings destroyed in a hurricane and hiked up a mountain where we saw a gorgeous, all-around view. I took lots of pictures on the island before the camera unfortunately died. Chloe found water in one of the houses, so she dropped a rock in it, and, just as she suspected, it was still water. When we got back to lovely Oryx, we had a not-so-lovely sailing test. Everyone passed! Not to brag, but I got a 100%. I will be expecting princess treatment from my family when I get home for that one. When everyone was finished, most of us threw on our snorkels and swam around the boat, per Sam’s request, because he loves it. Then, we were called to Phoenix (our dinghy) to speed to Nacho, the diving boat. We got to dive 60 feet down, which is our limit, and explore a shipwreck. George, Elin, Chloe, and Molly all saw a lobster! Overall, we all agree it was a glorious experience. After, we went home and had a delicious meal of ramen noodles. We began sailing back to Peter Island, which is so pretty, but smells of rotting sargassum. Once we arrived at Oryx, Eole, Harbor House Out, Glad 2 B Here, Hope, and Nacho Dinghy (the sail side fleet) all rafted together in a line. This blog will probably be coming to y’all pretty late because we basically partied all night while boat hopping. Our boat made a cake, Margot plucked a lot of people’s eyebrows (they all look amazing), and we got to watch the dive masters on Nacho chug chocolate milk through snorkels because they are official masters. Now we are all currently setting up hammocks and sleeping arrangements. We are all on the stern, squished on top of each other, but couldn’t be any happier. It’s starting to hit us that we’re leaving in a couple of days. Can’t wait to see our families soon, but we will definitely miss our family here. 🙁
