Location: Salt Island

Today started with a scenic sunrise over GHP, coupled with the song “Sand Storm” at 7:00 AM. Then we embarked on a beautiful sail through drakes passage to Salt Island, where we dove “The Rhone”, a shipwreck from 1867. After exploring “the Rhone”, we did our first hike of the session, up Salt Island with the rest of dive side A. The walk wasn’t too long but was rewarded with an incredible view of the Caribbean Sea, as well as an adorable family of mountain goats. In the early afternoon, we had a delicious lunch of white bean soup and reviewed dive tables on our way back to GHP, where we snorkeled the sight that we dove later in the night. Then we rafted with “Aloha” and hung out with them for a while. Soon after, we did dingy school with Jake, where we learned how to drive the dingy as well as practiced man overboard procedures. Dinner was chicken Caesar salad with risotto (a personal favorite). Then, we did the night dive, which was incredible. There wasn’t an extensive amount of life, but the life we saw was some of the best yet. The first thing we saw was a giant sea slug. Then we saw our first stingray of the trip, which was super cool. The last thing we saw before surfacing was a Spanish lobster I had never seen before. We concluded the night with fresh water showers before heading to bed.
