Today was race day, so we had to eat breakfast quickly, and at 9 a.m., all the boats lined up and raced to West End, the port we left from on the first day. Hope came in as the second catamaran; we were after Oryx and just in front of Eolé. Robert was at the helm, and I was helping with lines in the power tower. Wyatt came up with a dress code, which was inside-out PFDs, backwards ball caps, and cool sunglasses. After the first race, we went ashore and ate lunch at a restaurant, and then shopped. After we got back on the boat, we prepped for the second race. Elliot was driving the boat in the race. The race was upwind, so we had to tack a lot. We also had to unfurl and switch the jib very quickly, so in order to do that, we had a team of everyone who didn’t already have a job in the dining area with the jib sheet, and they pulled it so quickly that we didn’t need to winch it in. In the second race, we won 3rd place. We had chili for dinner, and tonight we need to sleep with life jackets because we are leaving at 4 in the morning tomorrow.
