Location: Trellis Bay, Beef Island
We had our first late start of the trip today. Breakfast was served at 9, and by 10:30 we were on our way to Beef Island. As soon as we left Great Harbor we were hit by big waves, and we sailed towards Beef Island at an amazing 8-9 knots. We decided to bring our jib in, and the furling line broke, so Craig then had to got up to the bow to put in a replacement line to bring the jib in. As soon as that was over we motored for another two hours until we reached the water dock. Docking the boat was easier than I imagined it would be, and on the first try we got the boat onto the dock and began to refill the fresh water tanks. Leaving the water dock and heading for the bay we would moor the boat in relatively no trouble, we lost the boat hook on the first try but recovered it quickly and were allowed to go to shore afterwards. There was nothing more on shore than a convenience store and a restaurant, but we successfully satisfied our cravings on the island. Even after just five days we are all like one big family. We all help each other out and have fun lives as if we had known each other since before the trip. I’m really happy I got to be on this boat.
