Location: Gibraltar

Our second day in Gibraltar started with me waking everybody up by blasting music on a speaker. We all got up and were ready to eat breakfast, which consisted of oats made by Lanie. Then, we prepared sandwiches for our hike. Once the boat was clean and ready for us to leave, we set off on our walk through Gibraltar to get to the start of the hike. The walk was arguably more treacherous than the actual hike, as it was mostly uphill with no historical elements to see along the way, other than the view of the city from above. As we were walking up the road (which was very narrow), we took a stop, and a monkey came to steal Sadie’s food, but was not successful. It then moved to Lizzy by jumping up to get her sandwich, which, out of fear, she threw on the ground, giving the monkey a free sandwich. Our first stop was a big stalagmite cave with a light show and seats. There were stairs that you could take to go deep into the cave and get pictures. When this was all done, we kept hiking up to a place with drinks to buy, and we saw a monkey open the door to the fridge and steal snacks from the fridge. Once we made it to the top, we looked at the view of the ocean and city from the top of the glass skywalk. After this, we went to eat at a cafe where people could order ice cream and other food/snacks. Once we were all done eating, we walked down a path where we found a cave and went in. Inside this cave, there were many big rooms where we all played music and danced in the pitch black. After this, we went to Princess Caroline’s Battery, where there was ice cream, and some people learned that plain ice cream is different from vanilla, which shocked some. We went to the Great Siege Caves, which had historical cannons and statues of people from a battle. After this, a couple of people sent a paper airplane off the top of the mountain, where it did not fly at all and fell. After the tunnels, we kept walking along the path trying to get to the Windsor Suspension Bridge, but along the way, we found another cave/catacomb and went in. Inside, there was not much, but there were some walls that you could go behind and scare people, as it was pitch black again.

Leaving this cave, we decided to keep going towards the suspension bridge, but along the way, again, we waited at the Ape’s Den, where a monkey tried stealing Logan’s backpack but was quickly retrieved. There were a couple of monkeys, and Logan and Greyson decided to run up the stone steps as high as they could, and got left behind. Around 7-8 of us, including me, also stayed behind but started towards the bridge a bit after. Once my group arrived at the turn to go to the bridge, we missed it and kept going up to where we could see the bridge from down below, and called out to the group that was on it. We made our way back down and met all at the bridge, including Logan and Greyson. After this, to wrap up our day after walking down, we stopped at a convenience store to get snacks and picked up eighteen pizzas for dinner from a pizzeria near Argo. We made our way back to the boat and ate every last slice of pizza very quickly to end our day.
