Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound

This morning we slept in until 6:30 and prepared for the incoming divers while wondering what super-fun divemaster tasks our gracious leaders had in store for us. After helping the AOW divers get their gear set up and in the water, we were briefed on the stress test that we were going to be performing that morning; equipment swap while sharing a single air source. After the quick 5-minute convo allotted to us with our buddies, we splashed and tried our best, but a couple of us will probably have to try our best again at a later date. Sean was cool as a cucumber and got a perfect 5. However, Dan, for some reason, could only manage a four despite being partners. After we’d attempted our stress tests successfully or otherwise, we split up into groups to either go over our book work, lead OW divers on a mangrove snorkel, or do a buddy check demo skill check. The mangrove snorkel was my favorite part of the day. The OW students were very interested in seeing the wildlife, and we were lucky enough to catch not just a single baby barracuda but instead saw up to 7 throughout the whole snorkel. We had some absolutely delectable kraft mac n’ sneeze globs for lunch compliments of chefs Sean and Maddy and finished off the day with some absolutely bomb veggie burgers.

Looking forward to some more diving Q!!
