Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound

This morning, we started with a big happy birthday to our counselor, Jo, who led us on our morning navigation dive along with Garrison and Tony during our first rotation. Sloane and Sophia were excited to see jellyfish as we learned how to utilize a compass to keep our bearings underwater despite all of us having some difficulties with buoyancy. Our second rotation was zesting, an activity where we sailed small sailboats called zests. Caroline and Lyla were flipped by Andrew B and Thea and Emilia was flipped by Greyson. We enjoyed a Mac and cheese lunch before moving into our next rotation of paddle boarding, where many of the guys like Andrew D, Jack M, Andrew B, Jack H, Greyson, and I instead played a game of jackpot on the beach. Our last rotation of the day was water sports, where Jack M showed off his impressive slalom skiing while Greyson, Andrew D, and I stole granola bars from Tony (a dive instructor on Meow or Never). When we finally returned to Gap Year, the guys took pictures in the cabin and cheered on Andrew B as he hit a sick backflip off the boat, a skill he learned just yesterday. We also spotted sea turtles, not only at this time but throughout the whole day, as this area is full of them. After our garden burger dinner and chocolate birthday cake dessert, we sat around the boat listening to Something in the Orange by Zach Bryan while watching the sunset, soaking in the beauty of the BVIs. Jack H worked his magic and convinced Nat to like 8 of us on a sunset dinghy ride across the glassy water of Vixen Point and a stop at a nearby national park where we improvised an entrance to a pond full of wild flamingos. Unfortunately, our cameras didn’t do great in the lighting, but we took it as a sign to live in the moment. The sharks were tame today, and minimal property was damaged.

PS: I love you, mom. I hope ur meniscus is doing alright. Tell everyone I love them
