Location: Sidney's, Jost van Dyke
Hey parents, to kick off the start of a very long day, Siena, Toby, and Will woke us up to have a quick breakfast at 6 am. We had cereal. After we ate, a big dishy pit started that we had to do so fast, but everyone was so tired that we barely finished in time. During cleanup, most people got ready for our long, steep hike up a huge mountain on Tortolay. We all left our boat, still super tired, not ready for our race. During the race, there wasn’t much to see other than the amazing view of the islands and the ocean. Jorge, Raiden, Zach, and I sped our way up the first hill to get it over with since it was the steepest one. Everyone was mostly split up into small groups, with people from all boats. When Jorge and I reached the top, we found Zach at the top and discovered that he had won first place 🥇, while we came in 7th. On the way down, we saw Aliya, Lulu, Margo, Xavi, and Jimena almost at the top.
During the last stretch of the race, we ran into Bea, Lauren, and Poppy. Poppy was on the phone with her friend, and we said hi and took a minute-long break before running down the hill. We made it to the bottom and got to a supermarket to grab some snacks. While on the way to the restaurant, we ran into Raiden and Zach. Raiden came with us while Zach headed to the supermarket. We saw a kid sitting alone, so we sat with him and got some burgers. Soon after, we had to return to our boats to head to the beach for a sandcastle building competition. We made a squid that wasn’t very good, but we tried. We then left for Sidney’s for a small BBQ. We were supposed to raft with all the boats, but due to some issues with the boat, we sadly weren’t able to. It was pouring, and everyone got pretty wet, but other than that, it was fun. It was such a long day, and we were all exhausted, but it was probably my favorite day we’ve had so far. Super excited for tomorrow.
