Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Today was another rotation day, but we all woke up tired, so we were able to wake up a little before our first activity. After a breakfast of oatmeal, we started our first activity, an obstacle course competing against Beso del Viento. The course started with Claire and Lyla retying the dinghy further out from the boat using the knot skills we learned. When the bark was all the way out from the boat, Thomas, Max, Matt, Stella, Meredith, and Drew swam out to the boat, and all had to do a backflip off of it. After that, Claire pulled the dinghy back in.
Next, Hays won the knot-tying competition, where he had to tie a bowline knot around himself and hang off of the boat. He was so confident that he even turned around and leaned forwards in the knot! The next competition was where Kate had to balance on a fender in the water longer than the other person, and she did a great job! Then Evan had to knock another person off a paddle board using a pool noodle without falling off, and she won all three times! Finally, it was my turn to answer trivia questions about sailing, diving, and life on the boat, which I won(Thanks to Allie, Beth, and Aidan quizzing me). We won the events 4-1(even though Beso del Viento cheated on the first activity).
Then on our next rotation, we went either water skiing or sailing. Thomas, Claire, Evan, and I went skiing, and everyone else was relaxing on the boat or sailing the small boats. Thomas did really well. At water skiing and stayed up for a really long time! After we got back to our boat, we had a quick lunch of peanut butter and jelly before learning about dive planning and taking a test to get closer to our certification. Once we finished our test, we de-rafted from Beso del Viento and moved to another dock, where we got to talk to our parents! Then we all took showers and got ready for the barbecue.
On the way over on the dinghy, it was super choppy, so I got soaked! At the barbecue, the food was really good, and we got to choose a lot of different drinks from the bar! After it got dark, we all got on the dance floor and had a lot of fun dancing to all of the songs that DJ HeavyBeats played! We came back to the boat, and now we all need to get a good night’s sleep because we will be sailing to Anegada tomorrow!
