Location: West End, Tortola

Today is the last day at ActionQuest and when we woke up this morning, you could feel the melancholy in the room. Fortunately everyone snapped out of it fairly soon as we set to work getting race day prepped. A team effort moved all the tanks to the back of the boat to help us hit the high speeds. Simon and I attended the skipper’s meeting to learn the route of the race. Throughout chants, we could be heard by all, in the area. At 9am, exactly the countdown finished and we got off to a flying start. Cruising at 8.5 knots, we were leaving other boats in our wake. We finished a good 4th place in a race of nine. Next came boat appreciation, and with Casey in charge, the boat has never looked cleaner. We pulled into West End for the last time. At the time, I’m writing this here waiting to go on shore and enjoy what West End has for lunch. I’m sure the BBQ will be emotional tonight as everyone says his or her farewells, but overall this trip has been awesome.
