Today we woke up super early for our long day that started with a meeting on the dock with all the kids from other boats. Mike gave us a speech about the hike we were about to face while the rain started to come down on us. There was a beautiful rainbow right after. Mike warned us the hike was pretty steep and to be careful because it might be slippery because of the downpouring rain, but boy, we did not know what we were in for. We began the hike, and right away, it got insanely steep. All the kids that started out on the hike together soon got scattered and started going at their own pace. That was the steepest hike I have ever been on, and soon the rain started again, and we were trying hard to keep going.
I stayed with Maddie, Lily, and Miranda on the hike, and we ran into other shipmates along the way. I even saw my brother Matthew a few times. The hike in total was six miles, and once we got near the top there was a little shack that had a banana smoothie everyone was talking about. We stopped in and got one, and they were so yummy, and at this point, the rain was getting crazy. We were not allowed to reach the top of the mountain because it got too slippery, but we made it as far as we could by the smoothie man. We got our phones for a little today and got to talk to all of our loved ones, and it was so nice talking to them. If y’all are reading this, I love and miss you all. After we were done with our smoothies, we began to go down the mountain back to the bottom. It was very funny trying to get down the steep mountain in the rain, and it was pretty fun. I met some new friends going down the mountain, which was fun, and we got some videos in the rain. On the way up the mountain, the view was nice, and on the way down, we could not see much. It was very exciting once we finished the hike, and we were all cheering. We then met at this restaurant with a lot of the other AQ kids, and I was very excited to split a pizza with Lily for the first time in a while. We got some pizza and ice cream and sat at this beautiful beach once it stopped pouring.
We met some more friends today, and then soon after we were done eating, Lily, Isabel, and I sprinted to the snack store before we had to meet back at the dock. We took the dingy back to the boat, said our goodbyes on our phones, and were ready to motor over to Sandy Cay. We went there and played some volleyball on the beach with new friends and had a sand castle competition against all the other boats. Breakaway made our instructor’s faces, a Monohull, and a couch in the sand. Ours was obviously the best, and we got to find out if we won later. After hanging out on the beach for a while, we went back to our boat for ocean shower time. The water where we were was beautiful, and we always had a lot of fun in our ocean showers. After our showers were over, we motored over to Sidneys for the night and got ready for our BBQ tonight. We heard that this place has an awesome place to get some stuff, and the BBQ is going to be awesome. Today was a super long day filled with fun, and we are definitely going to sleep well tonight.
