Day one started off with an early morning wake-up due to the roosters on the dock. We packed up the hammocks to prepare for our sail to Peter Island. The whole team sat on the trampoline at the front of the boat and got soaked by the waves. Later on, we arrived at Peter Island and refreshed our dive gear setup skills. We then performed a swim test which everyone passed. When we got out of the water, we put our dive gear on and hopped right back in. We refreshed our memories of what we learned in our previous course. Half our team saw a stingray, and Daisy and Sally had a play fight underwater. Then we took our first ocean shower, where some of us (Josh, Megan, and Alaina) even flipped off the boat. We then dried off for dinner. Dinner was sloppy Joe’s made by Martina and Sally with the help of Alaina. After dinner, our minds were put to solving the mystery of the black substance that’s made its way onto every surface of the boat. Its origin was never found. Stay tuned. The two deckies of the day (charged with cleaning the deck), Kai and Daisy, swept it all off the deck, providing us with a great end to the day.
