Location: Anegada

Hi! I’m Josie. Today was a big day for Shamwari. Matty P, Mia, and Sela woke up bright and early to sail us over to Anegada for the boat Olympics. Since we are the best boat ever, we had super cool face paint that was green and pink, so we had a lot of fun with that, especially Ollie and Lucy, who definitely had the most epic face paint. Once we were done with our hype war paint, we headed over to the beach to get started with the Olympics. Lucy and Ella S taught us a hype cheer to get us pumped up, and trust me, we were pumped up. There were four boats, including us, and they looked ready…but we were more ready. The first event was a tug of war, and we dominated the first team, but unfortunately, we ended in second during the finals. We are not a group that’ll give up easily, and Grayson gave us a fire pep talk, and we were back up, HYPE, and ready for the next round. The next round was a relay race; you had to climb under your whole team’s legs, spin around a bender five times, then run out into the water and swim to a dingy while fighting off ruthless staff members pushing and trying to sabotage us. You had to climb up onto the dinghy that was covered in soap and then swim back. Let’s just say we killed it: Ella W started us off strong and got us in front of the competition, Meredith kept us steady smack dab in the middle of the pack, and Joshua, towards the end, absolutely killed it even though a rival counselor literally dragged him underwater. We won this event, wasn’t even close.

Next up, we had to do a sorta game of tag, and we did not win this one, but we were good even with this loss. Our final event was a test of balance, our three nominated for this were ollie, ella w, and grayson. Ella W and Grayson did great, and Ollie stayed up the longest, and we won! Hopie and Lulu were super hype that we won, along with the rest of the group. Honorable mention to Joshua today for raising the sail basically all on his own. We ended the day with dinner and a squeeze, of course, and a guest at dinner, Aden, who is on the boat under pressure. He pumps all our scuba tanks and is awesome. Peace out!
