Today started quite eventfully for me as Hays and Mimi gave me a lovely wake-up. This included Hays coming over as he would and letting me know I had watched, suspiciously nicely, and not soon after I lifted my head off the comfortable, warm pillow to acknowledge him. Mimi strikes, I’m talking fists flying as she springs up from her lying down position and goes full beast. I appreciated it because I didn’t go back to sleep afterwards, as usual, when Mimi woke me up, as it’s always a tap as she runs 5m away (I promise I’m not that scary). Anyways, swiftly moving on, after getting up on deck, I was alerted of Ella getting her helmsona, an impressive feat, and not for the weak, but we welcome another helmsona, and this time it’s Helm’s kitchen.

Furthermore, Maya and Emma had done some lovely box braids on Hays and Rook, and they were looking fabulous. Shortly after relieving watch team 1 and getting the real deal on watch (Watch team 2, of course). We started by being flooded with boats. Not long into our watch, Alex and I were counting the boats, and we counted eight within visibility. This is rather impressive, as over the last 30 days, we’ve never seen more than two while underway. Also on our watch, we decided to get out all the fenders and get them ready for when we arrive in Gibraltar. We split this up with Avery and Lizzy sorting the covers for the fenders. Jack, Lana, and Alex were pumping up the black fenders, and Sadie and I were pumping up the white ones. This was super efficient, and we got it done in a jiffy. I then had to go take Meg off the helm as she was turning on the generator, and left the rest of my watch team to tie down the fenders. I must say from the helm, I was a little nervous about the grand tower of fenders forming over at midships, but with Avery in charge, I had faith.

Turns out they did a good job with Emily and Logan saving the day near the end after being relieved from bow watch. Once everyone had had their fun prancing around the boat, Emily was getting her steps in (sight to see, I must say). We were all back and reunited in the cockpit. Whilst we were causing carnage above deck, down below, the slightly delayed and tired chefs were working away. Macie leading her team of Mina and Brady into the latest but probably top 5 meals we’ve had for a while a good old white chicken chilli. I had no idea what this was and very little faith, but it turned out to be rather scrumptious. This was nicely accompanied by Nicole’s cornbread, which everyone enjoyed. After lunch, everyone was getting ready for the usual class until Lanie alerted me to an issue with the head. Ladies and gentlemen, if you haven’t already heard, I am the king of the heads. I’ve spent more time in those heads than the staff heads. But besides the point, I arrive at hell to Dylan telling me that Jack opened a cupboard door and the screw, somehow, not sure how, but it flew into the head. What a muppet. We deconstructed the head, and then the boys resolved it. During this time, Lana was in the foc’sle attempting to fix her fan before requesting a quick hand. I broke it down, and believe Lana needs to sue the fan for stealing so much hair.

We had some final line tests going on; this was a test of the names of every line on the deck. Taking this test were Greyson, Andrew, and Brady. By now, everyone was pretty good with the names, so I’m sure they all did great. Coming into the end of the day and an ON TIME dinner, three cheers for the chefs! We had our final squeeze and broke into cleanup. I believe it’ll be an early start for us staff, and whichever watch team is on watch when we arrive, so we will be sleeping early and well tonight. Nice to be writing a blog again, and I hope all blog readers are excited to hear from your family or friends.

To my family back home, I miss you guys heaps, and I hope you are all doing well. Look forward to catching up soon, lots of love.
