We woke up bright and early to prepare for today’s regatta after a quick skippers’ meeting and Race briefing. We sailed to the starting line between Pelican Island and Breecher’s Bay. The race started at 9 AM sharp, and we held a steady lead for almost the whole first leg of the race. We slowly started losing position as a group of Minerva boats newly returned from their separate voyage around the leeward islands took the lead. After sailing from a buoy in Road Town Harbor to a buoy in Peters Bay and back to Road Town, we ended in fourth place. We made our way back to our home marina of Soapers Hole, and after a bit of boat appreciation, which involved swabbing it from bow to stern, we set off for the barbecue. After our first hot meal in a while, we had a chat with Mike, rounding out the trip, and then enjoyed some downtime where we were allowed to come mingle with the other boats and say our goodbyes. This was a life-changing experience that we will never be able to fully explain. See everyone soon!
