British Virgin Islands - 2022, Session 3

Meet the Team!

Location: West End, Tortola

Hey everyone! We are Xanadu II, and we have been waiting all summer for you and are so excited to meet you! We’ve been working hard preparing for your arrival, cleaning, flooding, and putting together the finishing touches. Let's meet the team!

Jake: Skipper/Dive Instructor
Jake first joined AQ as a student in 2016, and in 2020 he became a PADI dive instructor. Towards the end of 2022, he completed his Yachtmaster certification. Jake is currently attending Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where he studies business management. Before Covid-19, he also helped instruct at Rollins’ scuba diving program. Growing up in New Hampshire, he spent a lot of time snow skiing and water skiing. He is excited to teach students how to waterski in addition to diving. His favorite diving is in the British Virgin Islands, and he can’t wait to share the beauty of the underwater world with other divers. He is also very excited to have the opportunity to give new AQ students the same fantastic experience he had as a student for so many summers.

Jayna: Dive Instructor
Jayna is a PADI OWSI and EFR Instructor and a Search and Recovery, Night, Deep, Emergency O2, Underwater Navigation, and Enriched Air specialty instructor. She has dived in the Philippines, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Mexico and have worked as a divemaster in the UK and Jamaica, guiding dives, conducting scuba reviews, and pool DSD sessions as a DSD Leader. She has also previously worked at a summer camp as a lifeguard and swim teacher and carried out duties as a general counselor. When out of the water, Jayna enjoys running and playing the piano.

Tommy: Dive Instructor
Tommy was born and raised in the illustrious state of Delaware, and he will be joining ActionQuest for the first time this summer! Before joining the team, Tommy spent the last six years working as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer, a dive boat captain, and a coral reef research diver in Mexico and the Cayman Islands. When out of the water and through the following a passion and propensity for environmental education, Tommy typically devotes his energy to teaching as an early childhood educator and middle school soccer coach. In his spare time, he loves going for long walks on the beach, getting caught in the rain, looking for excuses to quote Shrek, and researching clichés. He is ecstatic about his first summer working with ActionQuest, and he can not wait to pass on his knowledge to his students and shipmates this summer!
