Welcome to Breezy !
Location: The Bight, Norman Island
Welcome to High on A Breeze, or as we call her, Breezy! We have just finished two fantastic sessions in the BVI and could not be more excited to kick off session 3, though we are slightly sad it is our final session this summer. Over the past few days, we have been working tirelessly to get the boat prepared for our new shipmates. The boat is looking spotless, and all of our new supplies are on board, though Breezy won’t start feeling like home until our 12 new shipmates arrive later today. We have so many exciting activities planned for this session, from BBQs to shipwreck scuba dives and sailing alongside dolphins on the way to Anegada. Let’s meet the Breezy staff:
Emma - Co-Skipper
Emma grew up 3 hours from the nearest ocean in Maryland, but to her, it was always worth the drive! She fell in love with scuba diving while earning her degree in Marine Affairs and Sustainable Business at the University of Miami. While in college, Emma was lucky enough to sail from South Africa to the Caribbean on both S/Y Argo and S/Y Vela. Emma now uses her degree to teach high school science. She can’t wait to take a break from the traditional classroom and teach sailing on the water again this summer. If you don’t find her on a boat, you’ll probably see her being towed behind it on a wakeboard!
Allie - Co-Skipper/Medic
Growing up, Allie spent most of her time in the chilly waters of Cape Cod, spending summers working as a lifeguard and watersports instructor at Cape Cod Sea Camps. In the spring of 2020, she went on a Seamester voyage from South Africa to Antigua, where she had the time of her life. Upon graduating from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Cognitive Science last spring, Allie spent the summer working as a mate at AQ. She loved being able to help others have as great of an experience at Action Quest as she did at Seamester. Allie got her Master of Yachts license this winter and is so excited to be back at AQ this summer, and even more excited for dishy pit dance parties this summer. When she isn’t on the water (and sometimes when she is), she can be found dancing poorly, faking accents, and finding fun in unsuspecting places.
Garrison - Dive Instructor
Garrison is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor returning for his second summer to Action Quest! He loves to show students the underwater world and doesn’t fail to point out some of his favorite marine animals. Garrison first joined the GXG team in 2019 as a shipmate on S/Y Argo with the Seamester program. Realizing his love for the ocean, he spent six months pursuing his dive instructor’s certification on Utila Island. While on the island, Garrison became more familiar with Caribbean fish and coral. Now, he goes to school at Vanderbilt, where he is a board member of the sailing team. His most significant flex at school is that he gets to spend his summers at AQ!
