Soul Rebel Race Team
Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Seventeen days ago, fourteen strangers walked into an adventure of a lifetime aboard Soul Rebel. As a group, we've experienced many highs and lows that have shaped us into a big, loving family, and today will definitely be considered a positive one. We began our day with a quick breakfast of oatmeal and cereal. After, while the Soul Rebel crew prepped our boat for the race, Mac and I attended the skipper's meeting to discuss race logistics. This included a quick overview of the start time, place, and positions. We returned to the boat to brief the crew and make some final preparations for the race. At 9:00 a.m., the race began. Unfortunately, we had a rough start due to the American flag getting caught in the reef system, which jammed the lines and caused us to begin very late. Despite being the last team to officially commence, Brodie and Trey's helming skills won us a proud 2nd place. Our finish line was at West End in Tortola, where we got to have lunch ashore. After waiting an hour for our coffees, we headed to the grocery store for our last shopping spree.
A second skippers' meeting was then held to brief the next race of the day, from Tortola to Great Harbor Peter. We prepped for the second race, assured no flags would get caught, and began with an amazing lead. This race was slightly longer, which allowed many of us to chill and snack. After arriving at GHP with a 33-minute lead, we celebrated our victory with a delicious dinner of tacos made by Zoe with the help of Zach. We are anchored at a beautiful spot on Peter Island, where the view of rainbows and clear waters wind us down for the night. A quick hello to my family; I miss you all immensely. Signing off from Soul Rebel.
