The Lunar Landers Landed Last

Location: West End, Tortola

Wow, here it is—the very last blog for the very last day. I almost cried writing this post. We started today with an exhilarating race between the sail side boats, including the freshly arrived Minerva program sailors. There we were, neck in neck with Swole (Soul) Rebel. They were gaining speed and were passing us, cheering as they threw a tomato at our boat. The first try plummeted into the water as we laughed and jeered at them, but unfortunately, they tried one more time. The tomato went straight into the sail bag, a perfect shot. We may or may not have retaliated with Beckett and Owen with a well-aimed egg that hit the side of their boat. But hey, you didn’t hear that from me.
After the race, we did a four-hour deep-clean. It was very tedious, all while in a sauna of cabins. We packed, then cleaned, then packed some more. Camille, Alivia, Bailey, and I took turns cleaning and packing, which turned out to be quite efficient.
We docked at our starting point. It was so nostalgic, even if it had only been twenty days. This place felt like our life. The friends we made, the people we met, and our new relationships felt like our actual, long-lasting life. But now it was over. We had grown close, and now we were being split apart. We hung out on shore for a little while after some pizza, mainly saying some goodbyes. Both me, Roman, and Bailey even got to see our siblings!
Max chilled the entire day besides a lot of cleaning and packing, and so did Cobrin and Mark. Once you finished your cleaning job, it was pretty much free time. (At least for me)
Soon we walked from the dock to the barbecue. The very last barbecue, the very last dinner, and in many cases, the very last goodbye. Personally, I may have cried a little bit. Just a little.
After the barbecue, everyone just hung out on the docks and had a great last night. There were a few dance parties, a few breakdowns, but a ton of fun! I know that I definitely cried a lot, and look forward to bawling my eyes out tomorrow. I said my goodbyes and headed back to MoonShadow for an early wake-up the next day. As a wise person told me this day, “Nothing will change except location.”
