Day 1!
Location: West End, Tortola
Day 1:
We are ecstatic to meet our shipmates today and watch as we start this journey as strangers and see it transform quickly as we become a family over the next three weeks. We cant wait to share our passions and introduce our shipmates to the world of sailing and diving as well as the full AQ experience. Without any further ado, here are you’re staff aboard Judine session 2!!! ;
Davis - Skipper
Davis started working for AQ in 2019 after being a shipmate on Seamester in the spring of 2018. She recently graduated from the University of Miami with a double B.S. in Marine Science and Biochemistry and minors in Chemistry and Studio Art. Davis plans to continue her education at UM next year, pursuing a Master of Professional Science degree in Tropical Marine Ecosystem Management. Her favorite pastimes involve going to the gym, cooking, finding fun new places to visit, and hanging out at the beach. A fun fact about Davis is that she played on the Women’s Club Lacrosse team at Miami!
Inês (Nesz) - Mate
Inês (Ee-ne-szj) is a past Mate with AQ and a recent graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a major in Environmental Studies and a Portuguese minor. She holds a US Sailing Level 1 Instructor Certification and has taught sailing since she was 16 in San Francisco Bay. She loves the joy of teaching somebody a new skill, especially when it is something as exciting as sailing. Inês also surfs, plays guitar, and enjoys long “zen runs.” Inês has spent a lot of time in Portugal, where her family is from and feels deep gratitude for the perspectives her dual nationalities have given her. Inês is US First Aid and CPR Certified, Wilderness First Aid certified, and NASBLA Safe Boating certified. She is thrilled to return to AQ this summer and once again share her knowledge and passion for the ocean, environment, and travel.
Tony - Dive Instructor
As an AQ and Seamester alum, Tony fell in love with the Action Quest lifestyle and the people he was surrounded by. After living aboard Vela for the best three months of his life, Tony became addicted to life on (and in) the sea. The trip opened his eyes to a whole new way of living. He couldn’t stop there. Soon enough, Tony headed down to Key Largo, Florida, and spent a few weeks there gaining knowledge and training for his OWSI. Tony is so excited to pass on the incredible experience he had with AQ as a staff member now and inspire students to live the life they want.
