British Virgin Islands - 2021, Session 1

Meet the Odin II Staff!

Location: West End, Tortola

After loads of preparation completed by the office team throughout the year and on-site here in the BVI, the time has finally come for shipmates to arrive. We are so excited to welcome them on board and begin sharing our love of the Caribbean Sea and the beautiful BVI with them! Our incredible team has been working hard to ensure all the necessary equipment has been tested and is properly prepped for our trip. Fuel, water, food, educational materials, and other gear have been loaded onboard our vessels. Odin II, a 51-foot monohull, will house students working towards earning their Basic and Advanced Sailing certifications along with a PADI Advanced Scuba Diver certification.
We are looking forward to many days of learning, new friendships, and fantastic adventures!
Here is an introduction of the crew of Odin II:

Garrett: Skipper
Motto: “Boats Boats Boats!”
Garrett is joining our crew this year from a small rural town in central Michigan. He learned to sail via YouTube and a small styrofoam boat when he was 12 and has since been obsessed with the water. He has sailed in various roles, including working as a mate on day sailing charters, racing with the University of Michigan sailing team, and spending multiple seasons skippering vessels here in the BVI. Most recently, he worked on private superyachts as a deckhand/PADI dive instructor, but he is excited to get back on smaller vessels and share his passion for the sea with his shipmates.

Hannah: Dive Instructor/Mate
Motto: “I am excited.”
Hannah started at ActionQuest as a shipmate in 2015. After three summers in the BVI, she went on to become a PADI instructor, with the goal of certifying her younger sister when she is old enough. Hannah’s love of the ocean has driven not only her passion for diving but also her interest in conservation and sustainable development. She just graduated (the day before coming down the BVI) from Cornell with her Master’s in Civil Engineering and also ran the scuba program at the school. When she is not diving, Hannah loves skiing, snowboarding, crocheting, reading, and surfing.

Inês: Mate
Motto: “Interesting”
Inês (Ee-neszj) hails from San Francisco, where she began dinghy sailing at the age of 12. In 2016 she started instructing at the Sausalito Yacht Club and had thoroughly enjoyed the exciting and sometimes hectic experience of teaching young adults to sail. Currently, Inês is going into her last year of undergrad at UC Santa Barbara, where she studies Environmental Science. Inês loves everything about the ocean, spending time outside, gardening, and playing guitar. She cannot wait for all the adventure to come this summer.
