British Virgin Islands - 2019, Session 2

Staff Update Day 1

Location: West End, Tortola

The crew of Sans Souci is so excited to get underway for this midsummer session with 11 Vegas and 1 Polaris on board. We’re pumped for three weeks full of diving, sailing, water sports, and adventuring around the British Virgin Islands, but mostly we can’t wait to meet our new shipmates!

Here is an introduction of the crew on Sans Souci:

Jake: Skipper/Dive Instructor

Often described as “the world’s worst dancer” by his students, Jake is easily recognizable by the constant smile on his face. Working full time with Global Expeditions Group has been Jake’s dream job ever since he was a student in 2005, and each year Jake works hard to bring his same unbelievable experience to every student on our adventure travel programs. Having directed both the diving and sailing operations of programs in the British Virgin Islands, Jake plays a hands-on role during the summer as a skipper and PADI Instructor. During the rest of the year, Jake manages enrollment and business development in our Sarasota office. Whether working with individual students or larger school groups, Jake’s goal remains the same: to provide an incredible experiential education program.

Kate: Dive Instructor/Mate

Kate grew up a competitive swimmer and scuba diver in Boston, MA. Having interned at her local dive shop after high school, she got bit by the diving bug and hasn’t looked back. Kate earned her Divemaster certification at 18, instructor certification at 20, and completed her BA in Archaeology at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. After working full-time as a scuba instructor after graduation, Kate realized how much she loves teaching and is now pursuing a Masters of Education at Boston University. She has taught scuba in New England, Ireland, and the U.S. Virgin Islands as an SSI Instructor, PADI Instructor, and BSAC Assistant Instructor. Kate’s a big fan of hiking, road trips, tacos, and puns and is constantly hoping to see dolphins when she gets in the water.

Allie: Photographer/Mate

Allie joined AQ as a student in 2013 and 14. She returned to the AQ family in 2017 as a photographer for the media team. Allie is also a PADI Divemaster, with experience working in Thailand and the Bahamas. She is a student at the University of Richmond majoring in mathematics with minors in environmental studies and computer science.
